Sir,I think right direction is very much essential for clearing upsc cse examination. I want to take gs paper wise online coachings. There r so many institutions/mentors in delhi and it is very difficult to find out who is the best among them..please suggest me coaching centers name where you have studied for this examination.

Hi Debjit, there is no specific strategy for UPSC 2022. U need to take a long term plan for UPSC rather than focussing on a particular year, Complete the basic first and then go for the mains syllabus, followed by writing practices. Work Hard! Keep in touch!

Complete the basic books first, then only go to Delhi for coaching. U can take online coaching also but be careful while choosing the institution

I have a doubt, Currently I am pursuing Bachelor In Technology from Heritage Institute of Technology and I have received placement offer in few IT companies but I want to join Civil Service so, can I do my perpetration along with my job? Sir I want to mention one more thing as you know in IT field we have to face a massive work pressure. So, sir can you please suggest what will be better for me. Every thing depends on u. I am from the same college and like u had offers from IT companies but did not join. But, I was also working while the preparation was going on simultaneously. Many of the working professionals are preparing for civils. If u are ready to work hard, can study 4-5 hours a day, skip the weekend movie, then definitely u can do. But if u ask my opinion, u can skip the offers for now & dedicatedly study for civil services, as u have the age on ur side.

Souvik,there is no magic formula to crack CSE. Work Hard. Practice mock papers for pre as much as possible.If u have already completed GS syllabus, start writing practice also.

Upsc বা bcs দিতে আগ্রহী হলেও সাধারণ ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের জন্যে সেরকম কোনো platform না থাকায় দিশা হারিয়ে বিভ্রান্ত হওয়ার জন্যেই আর এত বড় পদক্ষেপ নিতে আর সাহসে কুলায় না, সঠিক পথ নির্দেশের জন্যে ছেলে মেয়েদের স্কুলের উপরের ক্লাস বা কলেজ University তে থাকাকালীন upsc র জন্যে উদ্বুদ্ধ করলে তারা কিছুটা সাহস সঞ্চয় করতে পারে, আমার ক্ষেত্রেও একই ভাবে সময় নষ্ট হয়েছে ।

Sir, শুরু করতে দেরি হয়েছে, এবং কিছু ক্ষেত্রে দিশা খুঁজে না পেয়ে তো বটেই, এখন মনের জোর নিয়ে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়লেও বেশ কিছু বাধার সম্মুখীন হয়েছি, কিছু ক্ষেত্রে প্রবল ভাবে একলব্যের মতও মনে হচ্ছে নিজেকে,অনেক জিজ্ঞাসার সঠিক সমাধান করতে পারছিনা, এবং ইন্টারনেট যেমন সুবিধাজনক তেমন distraction ও ঘটাচ্ছে,coaching ছাড়া প্রিপারেশন এর মূল স্তম্ভও ইন্টারনেট, কোনো কোনো সময় সঠিক নির্দেশের এভাবে অসহায় ও লাগছে , কি করবো ,পরামর্শ চাই ।

dont be worried about CSAT , just practice as much as possible . you can take papers from some standard coaching centres (easily available in net ) and practice around 30-35 sets. If still not comfortable, then only you will need help of books.

স্যার , আমি ইউপিএসসি সিভিল সার্ভিসের প্রস্তুতি সদ্য শুরু করেছি। অপশনাল বাংলা নেব।নিউজপেপার হিসেবে হিন্দুস্তান টাইমস পড়ছি। কিন্তু পেপারে কোনটা ছেড়ে কোনটা পড়ব , এবং কোনটা কতটা পড়ব এই ব্যাপারে সমস্যা হচ্ছে।সিভিল সার্ভিসের জন্যে খবরের কাগজ কিভাবে পড়তে হয়,এই বিষয়ে যদি একটা প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন তাহলে সুবিধা হয়। ধন্যবাদ।

Kushal, news paper reading is very very important. At starting u can read any of the national daily. But its better to follow either the Hindu or Indian Express. Focus on news articles on economy, polity- such as any new bill passed or ordinance , social issue, foreign relations etc – No need to read editorial at the starting phase of your preparation. You can skip sports, gossips and in general political developments. I will try to write a full article on this issue soon.

স্যার জিওগ্রাফি নোটস গুলো থেকে অনেক উপকার হচ্ছে। কি ভাবে উত্তর লিখবো সেই বিষয়ে স্বচ্ছ ধারণা হচ্ছে। বর্তমানে আমি wbcs র প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছি। আমার অপশনাল জিওগ্রাফি। কিন্তু আমাদের অপশনাল সিলেবাসের দ্বিতীয় পত্রে West Bengal geography র প্রিপারেশন নিতে গিয়ে প্রতি পদক্ষেপে হোচট খাচ্ছি। ডেইলি নিউজপেপার পড়ি তবুও সব তথ্য পাচ্ছি না যেগুলো বিগত বছর গুলিতে প্রশ্ন পত্রে এসছে। একটু গাইড করবেন প্লিজ স্যার কিভাবে প্রস্তুতি নেবো এই portion টার। বই এর মধ্যে WB Geo র কার্তিক চন্দ্র মণ্ডলের বই পড়ছি। তবে এটি Geography optional র জন্যে relevant নয় আমার মতে। কি করবো কোথা থেকে পড়বো বুঝতে পারছি না।

Suman, one of my friends, usually placed top in the class starting at a young age. But he cane across some problems with math while pursuing his BSC in MATHS at RAMAKRISHNA MISSION NARENDRAPUR. He kept receiving lower grades as a result, and after performing poorly on the CAT exam and a few bank exams, he started to feel depressed. In 2017, I suggested his parents that to speak with a psychologist, but they disregarded my advice. They eventually took him to a psychiatrist in 2022 as things continued to become worse. But the psychiatrist is not good. So, we are very worried about not finding a good psychiatrist. Can you please give us any suggestions and any good psychiatrist near Kolkata?

If u appear in prelims then it will be counted as one attempt but if only fill up the form and dont appear in prelims, then it will not be counted as an attempt

Hello Sir,
I am Joydeep Paul. I am a student of SNTCSSC UPSC batch 2024. I am assigned under a coaching institute. I was preparing from 2022 July-August. I have completed all the major NCERTs, I read The Hindu daily. I thought that in SNTCSSC I would get very well strategised guidance. But the teaching of the institute is not satisfactory to me. Their strategy might be helpful 10 years back, but owing to the very dynamic papers both in prelims and mains I find their strategy old fashioned.
Sir my question is –
1. Is coaching classes ( in SNTCSSC, we have 5-6 hrs of classes for 5 days) really necessary? Because after 6 hrs of classes there is little time to cover multiple things like newspaper, optional, CSAT ( in 2023 CSAT was totally different in aptitude). Or I can study subjects on my own and give mock tests here ?
2. Role of self study in UPSC?
3. Some basic books like spectrum are too bulky. Is it necessary to read them from cover to cover ? Or we can read spectrum 1 time and then rely on some coaching material ( printed hard copy notes) ?
4. Owing to the more analytical form of UPSC, please describe the role of newspaper in preparation.

1 and 2. There is no thumb rule regarding coaching. It depends on you. If u think that coaching is not that helpful; and taking lots of time, then u are always free to leave it and concentrate on self study. Self study is much important as you can’t mug up everything rather need to have an overall understanding to answer mains papers.

3. Basic books needs to be completed cover to cover at least once. From next reading u can use highlighter or some marker to mark important points. It’s always better to read basic books and have ur own notes (if time permits) rather than reading some coaching materials. Coaching materials are useful for mains modules.
4. News paper needs to be covered in daily basis but try to read only news articles in first six months of your preparation. No need to cover editorials. Read two-three editorials in ever week, after completing your mains syllabus at least once. For details u can read this article
